Artist Expectations

Respect is Non-Negotiable at RTP Tattoo Lab

At RTP Tattoo Lab, we pride ourselves on creating a professional, welcoming, and safe space for both our artists and our clients. Trust, mutual respect, and clear communication are the foundation of every successful tattoo session. We’re here to turn your vision into a piece of art you’ll love—but it only works when boundaries are honored on both sides. As we’ve taken the time to express what you can expect from us in the previous blog. We also want you to know what we expect from you.

It’s unfortunate that this even needs to be said, but let’s be crystal clear: disrespecting or overstepping an artist’s boundaries is never acceptable.

We’ve seen incredible connections form between our artists and clients—there’s often laughter, good conversation, and a genuine bond that comes from creating something meaningful together. But when someone crosses the line, everything stops.

We are especially protective of our artists, including the two younger women on our team. While they are more than capable of handling themselves, they do not have to handle boundary violations alone. As a shop, we will always back our artists without hesitation.

Let us be specific:

  • If a client behaves inappropriately, makes anyone uncomfortable, or ignores an artist’s clearly expressed boundaries, they can and will be banned from RTP Tattoo Lab.

  • If this behavior occurs mid-appointment, the session will be ended immediately—and the client will still be responsible for the full appointment time, even if the work is left unfinished.

  • There are no exceptions to this. No apologies or excuses will override someone’s right to feel safe and respected in their workplace.

We understand that boundaries may look different from one artist to another. Some may be more talkative, some more reserved. Some are fine with you bringing a friend, others need full focus. That’s why we always encourage clients to ask questions, communicate openly, and listen when an artist expresses what they need to do their best work.

We strive to understand your boundaries and respect them. If we fail in that let us know and we will fix it. And when we express our boundaries we expect those boundaries to be respected as well. We want your business, we want your support, but we are not afraid or unwilling to admit we may not be the shop for you our boundaries are broken.

A good tattoo experience is about more than just ink—it’s about collaboration, trust, and mutual respect. That’s the vibe we work hard to build here. And we’ll protect it, every single time.
